In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for investigating therapeutic targets and contributing to the development of personalized models for cognitive disorders associated with Alzherimer\u2019s disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The contract will be within the framework of the \u201c<em>Desarrollo de modelos personalizados para el estudio del eje microbiota-intestino-cerebro en la progresi\u00f3n de trastornos cognitivos asociados a la enfermedad de Alzheimer<\/em>&nbsp;(<strong>ADGUT<\/strong>)\u201d project prioritized by the IBEC under the \u201cPlan Complementario de Biotecnolog\u00eda aplicada a la Salud\u201d (Biotechnology Applied to Health).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This Plan Complementario is co-financed by the Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovaci\u00f3n and the Generalitat de Catalunya, with funds from the European Union NextGenerationEU (PRTR-C17.I1)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2.&nbsp;<strong>Main duties and responsibilities<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the direction of Nadia Ortega, the applicant will carry out the following research activities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Develop microbiota-gut-brain axis animal models to advance into the understanding of the role of microbiota in Alzheimer\u2019s disease.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Investigate the Microbiota-Gut-Brain Axis to identify potential therapeutic targets, contributing to the development of personalized models for cognitive disorders associated with Alzheimer\u2019s disease.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to integrate Microbiota-Gut-Brain Axis findings into the broader context of the project, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the microbiota\u2019s role in cognitive health.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The selected candidate will be located at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/eurecat.org\/en\/field-of-knowledge\/nutrition-health\/\">Nutrition and Health Unit<\/a>&nbsp;facilities (Biotechnology area) located in Reus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:37px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Deadline: 25 February 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For more details and access to the application form please\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ibecbarcelona.eu\/researcher-in-microbiota-gut-brain-axis-and-alzheimers-diseases-assessment-ppcc-adgut_2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">click here<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:37px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><\/strong><strong>Requirements for candidates<\/strong><em><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Essential<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bachelor or Ph.D. in Biology, Biochemistry, Health Science, or a related field<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience in animal models<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Expertise on molecular biology methods, such as quantitative PCR (qPCR), Western blot, Immunohistochemical analysis and microbial community analysis<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Competencies and skills: Communication, Teamwork and collaboration, Commitment, Proactivity, Integrity, Critical and Analytical thinking<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>High level of English<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Advantageous:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Prior experience in conducting mouse behaviour studies and histology<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prior experience in flow cytometry analysis<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>We Offer:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Number of available positions: 1<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Starting date: By 1<sup>st<\/sup>&nbsp;of April 2024<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Working conditions:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Full time 16-month contract.&nbsp;Attractive salary<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Measures to reconcile work and family life (maternity and paternity leave, flexible schedule working hours, 23 working days of paid holidays, 9 leave days for personal matters, among others).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stimulating, interdisciplinary research and high-quality international scientific environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>IBEC ensures equality of access to professional development opportunities irrespective of employment status, length at IBEC or other factors.
